Our History

Stand Together for Change (STC) was founded by Physiotherapist Ndegeya Sylvain after working closely with several people with disabilities who were living in care centers. During this time, many parents of children with disabilities came to these centers seeking support such as food, medical care, clothing, and in some cases requesting that their children be accommodated because they were unable to provide adequate care at home.

However, most centers were unable to offer additional help, explaining that even caring for the children already in the centers was a major challenge.

This experience led to a comparison between the lives of children with disabilities living in centers and those living with their families. While children in centers often had access to basic needs such as food, clothing, education, and medical care, many children living with their families suffered greatly due to poverty and lack of support.

This situation inspired the creation of Stand Together for Change (STC), an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with disabilities from poor and rural families. STC was further strengthened by the motivation and encouragement of friends and colleagues who share the same passion for serving humanity, especially people with disabilities. The organization focuses on supporting children with disabilities and empowering their families by addressing challenges related to rehabilitation, stigma, discrimination, education, employment, shelter, and access to basic needs..

we do advocacy to run our initiatives and our actions started in january 2020 we started with nothing unless the family members efforts and our professional knowledge to carry on these initiatives

Disability is natural. We must stop believing that disabilities keep a person from doing something. Instead, we must believe that everyone can do something.
