Who We Are
STAND TOGETHER FOR CHANGE (SCT) is a non profit organization established to cater for the needs of people with different disabilities and caring their families in rural areas across Rwanda.
Advocating for equal opportunities and brighter futures.
As the name suggests, this organization, located in Rwanda and provides critical assistance especially in rural areas where there are rising numbers of children with disabilities caused by natural disasters, genetic defects, and several other natural mental challenges. Apart from these, STC also provides humanitarian services to the homeless and hungry through the organization of outreaches to neighborhoods with high cases of families of persons with severe disabilities.
Our History
The idea of STC came when I was working with several of people with disability but living in the centers. There were parents whose children with disabilities who came to the center to ask for help, food, medical care, clothing, some even asking that their children could stay to the center because they were incapable of their care.
But the centers replied that there was no help because even taking care of children in the center was difficult.
This made me to compare the lives of children with disabilities living in the centers and these living in their families. Therefore children living in the centers get enough like food, clothing, education, medical care while children living in their families suffered from many problems due their families poverty.
This comparison made me to think of how I can contribute to the lives of children with disabilities from poor families and the result was Stand Together for Change (STC). The idea of STC got stronger motivated and encouraged by fellow friends, workmates, driven by the same passion for service to humanity and people with disabilities in particular, with the love and heart to help and serve children with disability from rural areas and empowering their families who are facing the problems of proper rehabilitation, stigma, discrimination, education, employment, shelter and foods.
we do advocacy to run our initiatives and our actions started in january 2020 we started with nothing unless the family members efforts and our professional knowledge to carry on these initiatives
Disability is natural. We must stop believing that disabilities keep a person from doing something. Instead, we must believe that everyone can do something.
