Who We Are
STAND TOGETHER FOR CHANGE (SCT) is a non profit organization established to cater for the needs of people with different disabilities and caring their families in rural areas across Rwanda.
Advocating for equal opportunities and brighter futures.
As the name suggests, this organization, located in Rwanda and provides critical assistance especially in rural areas where there are rising numbers of children with disabilities caused by natural disasters, genetic defects, and several other natural mental challenges. Apart from these, STC also provides humanitarian services to the homeless and hungry through the organization of outreaches to neighborhoods with high cases of families of persons with severe disabilities.
Our History
Stand Together for Change (STC) was founded by Physiotherapist Ndegeya Sylvain after working closely with several people with disabilities who were living in care centers. During this time, many parents of children with disabilities came to these centers seeking support such as food, medical care, clothing, and in some cases requesting that their children be accommodated because they were unable to provide adequate care at home.
However, most centers were unable to offer additional help, explaining that even caring for the children already in the centers was a major challenge.
This experience led to a comparison between the lives of children with disabilities living in centers and those living with their families. While children in centers often had access to basic needs such as food, clothing, education, and medical care, many children living with their families suffered greatly due to poverty and lack of support.
This situation inspired the creation of Stand Together for Change (STC), an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with disabilities from poor and rural families. STC was further strengthened by the motivation and encouragement of friends and colleagues who share the same passion for serving humanity, especially people with disabilities. The organization focuses on supporting children with disabilities and empowering their families by addressing challenges related to rehabilitation, stigma, discrimination, education, employment, shelter, and access to basic needs..

Disability is natural. We must stop believing that disabilities keep a person from doing something. Instead, we must believe that everyone can do something.
