PROJECT KICKS OFF IN NDIZA REGION; ENHANCING INCLUSION, ROMOTE NUTRITION AND ACCESSIBILITY IN EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (ECDS)
This project aims to transform Early Childhood Development (ECD) services by promoting inclusion, enhancing accessibility, and improving nutrition through parents having children in that ECDs. This initiative seeks to create a supportive and inclusive environment where all children, regardless of their abilities, can thrive.
By addressing these key areas, the project aspires to foster an inclusive foundation that empowers every child to reach their full potential. This project is being implemented by Stand Together for Change in collaboration with Humanity and Inclusion (HI).
The first step in our project involved a comprehensive data collection and needs assessment exercise. Over the course of two days, our dedicated team visited four ECD centers in Ndiza. These visits were crucial in helping us understand the current state of accessibility in these centers, particularly in terms of infrastructure, sanitation facilities, and staff training.
During these visits, we assessed the physical infrastructure
of each center, paying close attention to features such as ramps, pathways, and
entrances. We also evaluated the accessibility of toilets and handwashing
stations—essential facilities that every child should be able to use
comfortably. In addition, we took the time to speak with the staff at each
center, discussing their awareness of the needs of children with disabilities
and identifying areas where further training might be beneficial.
